We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team in Islamabad. The ideal candidate will manage and control the company’s costing activities, ensuring accurate product costing, variance analysis, and comprehensive reporting. This role is vital in supporting strategic decision-making by providing actionable cost data and insights that improve both operational and financial efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify financial entries related to production batches to ensure accuracy.
- Conduct production audits and perform physical verification of destruction and in-house supplier rejections of in-process batches.
- Review Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR) reports for compliance and accuracy.
- Analyze and compare standard costs versus actual costs of batches to identify variances.
- Monitor the standard cost of products on a daily basis to maintain up-to-date costing information.
- Follow up on in-process batches, identifying reasons for delays or issues to facilitate timely resolution.
- Review Finished Goods Stock (FGS) transfer slips to ensure proper documentation.
- Provide updated product costing information upon request to support various departments.
Monthly Tasks
- Prepare detailed product costing reports to summarize cost data.
- Conduct productivity analysis to evaluate operational efficiency.
- Compile destruction reports to track material losses.
- Prepare additional issuance reports related to production materials.
- Perform comprehensive analysis comparing standard costs versus actual costs for complete batches.
- Audit formulations for raw and packing materials to ensure accuracy in costing.
- Generate reports on imported materials for inventory and cost tracking.
- Identify slow-moving and dead inventory across Finished Goods Stock (FGS), Raw Material Stock (RMS), and Packing Material Stock (PMS).
- Prepare FGS stock reports based on sale value for managerial audit purposes.
- Compare costs with previous batches to detect discrepancies or opportunities for improvement.
- Undertake any other tasks assigned by management to support business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a cost accounting role, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
