We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax and Import Compliance Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of tax reporting, filing, and compliance, as well as overseeing import documentation and ensuring adherence to customs regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of local tax laws, international trade regulations, and accounting best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and file timely and accurate tax returns (VAT, corporate tax, withholding tax, etc.) in compliance with local and national regulations.
Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on the impact of regulatory developments.
Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of tax accounts in the general ledger.
Manage import documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and compliant import transactions.
Calculate and account for import duties, tariffs, and taxes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international trade regulations, HS codes, and import/export compliance requirements.
Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and legal teams to streamline import and tax compliance processes.
Support month-end and year-end financial closings related to tax and import transactions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certification (e.g., MBA, ACCA, or equivalent) is preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in accounting with a focus on tax and import compliance.
Strong knowledge of local tax laws and international trade regulations.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in a cross-border transactions.
Familiarity with customs clearance processes and import/export documentation.
Working knowledge of ERP systems and automated tax filing platforms.
