The Senior VoIP Engineer at Ips is responsible for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting advanced Voice over IP (VoIP) solutions within complex communication infrastructures. This role demands a deep understanding of various VoIP protocols and associated technologies, including SIP, RTP, and SIP Trunking. The Senior VoIP Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality voice services by implementing Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms and is proficient in configuring network devices and monitoring tools to maintain optimal communication paths. The ideal candidate exhibits strong problem-solving skills and is capable of adapting to new technologies as they emerge in the VoIP landscape. As a key player in our technology team, the Senior VoIP Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance the company's unified communications systems. This includes integrating various communication platforms, ensuring security measures are in place for VoIP traffic, and providing expert support for troubleshooting complex issues. The Engineer will also implement monitoring solutions to detect, analyze, and rectify network performance problems in real-time. With a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in VoIP engineering, the candidate will not have direct management responsibilities; however, mentorship and knowledge sharing among peers will be encouraged to promote team growth and cohesion.
Responsibilities

  • Design and implement VoIP solutions tailored to the needs of the organization, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain SIP protocols to optimize session initiation and management for voice communications.
  • Conduct thorough troubleshooting and analysis of network performance issues related to VoIP services to resolve problems swiftly.
  • Implement QoS mechanisms to guarantee high-quality voice transmission and minimize latency, jitter, and packet loss.
  • Integrate and configure Session Border Controllers (SBC) to provide secure and efficient VoIP services.
  • Monitor VoIP networks using established tools like Wireshark and Nagios to detect and resolve performance issues proactively.
  • Stay updated with advances in VoIP technologies and protocols, applying best practices to enhance reliability and security.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Assist in the configuration and integration of PSTN gateways to ensure seamless connectivity between traditional telephony and VoIP systems.
  • Provision and manage SIP trunking configurations to optimize voice service connectivity and call routing.
  • Evaluate and implement security mechanisms for VoIP communications, including SIP over TLS and secure RTP, to protect voice traffic.
