OT Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Operating Theatre Technician to join our acute care team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the operating theatre environment, ensuring all equipment is functional and sterile, and supporting surgical teams throughout operative procedures. This role demands strict adherence to infection control protocols and the ability to work efficiently under pressure, including assisting anaesthetists during emergencies outside the operating theatre. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining a safe, healthy, and secure working environment while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the operating theatre to ensure it is ready for surgical procedures, including setting up sterile fields and ensuring all necessary equipment is available and functional.
- Maintain and manage theatre equipment, ensuring all devices are properly serviced and operational within an acute care environment.
- Identify and uphold sterile fields during surgical procedures to prevent contamination and infection.
- Strictly follow infection control policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Provide intra-operative technical and equipment support to surgical teams, ensuring smooth workflow during operations.
- Prepare patients for operative procedures, including positioning and assisting with pre-operative requirements.
- Assist anaesthetists in handling emergencies that occur outside the operating theatre, demonstrating readiness and competence in urgent situations.
- Manage hazardous waste generated during surgical procedures in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure the availability and proper stock management of medical and diagnostic supplies required for theatre operations.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care and meet operational requirements.
- Manage workload effectively to meet the demands of the operating theatre schedule and patient needs.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and secure working environment by adhering to workplace safety standards and reporting any hazards promptly.

Required Qualifications
- Proven experience working in an operating theatre or acute care environment, with a strong understanding of theatre protocols and equipment management.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and sterile techniques essential to maintaining patient safety.
- Ability to prepare and maintain sterile fields and manage theatre equipment efficiently.
- Competence in providing intra-operative technical support and assisting surgical teams during procedures.
- Capability to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies, including assisting anaesthetists outside the operating theatre.
- Familiarity with hazardous waste management and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Strong organizational skills to manage supplies and workload effectively.
