Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Science and Geography Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons in core science subjects—biology, physics, and chemistry—at the middle-grade level, as well as teaching geography topics including physical and human geography, environmental studies, and climate systems. This role requires a passion for fostering inquiry-based learning, scientific thinking, and an understanding of global environmental interconnectivity. The successful candidate will also contribute to the broader school community through co-curricular activities and maintain strong communication with parents and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
Science Instruction:
- Teach core science subjects such as biology, physics, and chemistry tailored to middle-grade students.
- Conduct practical demonstrations and supervise hands-on experiments to reinforce theoretical concepts.
- Utilize interactive tools and hands-on learning methods to simplify complex scientific ideas.
- Promote inquiry-based learning approaches that encourage critical thinking and scientific exploration.
Geography Instruction:
- Deliver engaging lessons covering physical and human geography, environmental studies, climate systems, and map skills.
- Incorporate maps, digital resources, and real-world case studies to make geography relevant and interesting.
- Help students develop an understanding of global issues and the interconnectedness of environments and cultures.
General Duties:
- Prepare and implement well-structured lesson plans aligned with the school’s curriculum, preferably Cambridge or Oxford-based.
- Assess student performance regularly through quizzes, assignments, lab work, and formal assessments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Manage classroom discipline effectively while fostering a positive and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers on cross-curricular projects and participate in school-wide events.
- Organize and oversee science fairs, geography exhibitions, and other related co-curricular activities to enhance student engagement.
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and any concerns.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, Geography, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching middle-grade science and geography.
- Strong knowledge of biology, physics, chemistry, and geography concepts appropriate for middle school students.
- Familiarity with Cambridge or Oxford curricula is highly desirable.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans and use interactive teaching methods.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive learning environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
