Sr Staff Software Engineer

Join ServiceNow’s Platform Labs team in Hyderabad and be part of a group of experienced Staff engineers driving innovation and solving complex technical challenges. In this role, you will develop proofs of concept and support their integration into the engineering roadmap, exploring emerging technologies and applying rigorous analysis to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions. Your work will empower customers to customize and extend platform functionality. You will collaborate closely with product owners, contribute to new product designs, and mentor colleagues in a culture that values curiosity, inclusivity, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities
- Research and evaluate new and existing technologies using a data-driven approach to guide engineering decisions.
- Write clean, scalable, and reusable code while following best practices such as code reviews and unit testing.
- Work with product owners to understand detailed requirements and take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, test automation, and delivery.
- Develop user-friendly software that enables customers to extend and customize platform features.
- Contribute to the design and improvement of new and existing products within the ServiceNow platform.
- Mentor peers to promote knowledge sharing and technical growth within the team.

Required Qualifications
- At least 14 years of programming experience with a strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies while applying a data-driven mindset.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies, distributed systems, and platform engineering.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and web platform development, with a focus on reusability and componentization.
- Hands-on experience in coding, system design, and implementation.
- Familiarity with relational databases, including development, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technically complex projects, potentially serving as a functional lead or technical owner.
- Experience leveraging or critically evaluating AI integration in workflows, decision-making, or problem-solving, including the use of AI-powered tools or automation.
