Job Summary
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D IT is seeking a highly skilled Product Lead Engineer to join their Hyderabad, India team. This role is pivotal in shaping the technical strategy and delivery of the Regulatory Insights and Experience product. The Product Lead Engineer will work closely with the Technical Product Manager and multiple stakeholders to ensure the product’s technical architecture aligns with the broader technology roadmap and engineering standards. This position demands a hands-on approach to coding, technical problem-solving, and leadership in building scalable, reusable, and modular solutions that comply with regulatory requirements and meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
The Product Lead Engineer will define and manage the engineering and technology architecture, roadmap, and technical decisions for the product. This involves close coordination with the Product Owner, Product Group Engineer, and Business Unit Architect to ensure alignment with the BU Architecture vision and business needs. Collaborating with the Business Product Manager, the engineer will help shape the product’s strategy and vision.

Day-to-day responsibilities include working directly with squads to address technical challenges, implement solutions, and participate in system, design, and code reviews. The role also involves writing and approving enablers, leading the evaluation of technical solution options, and testing concepts with users to validate effectiveness.

Negotiating technology choices with business partners and collaborating with platform and product teams to leverage existing platforms is essential. The engineer will manage development cadence and align technology landscapes across squads to promote reusability, scalability, and modularity.

Supervising product and platform development, driving engineering best practices, and owning technology lifecycle management are key duties. Maintaining the Product API catalogue, including technical interface definitions, is also required.

The role demands staying current with industry technology trends, conducting research spikes, and facilitating ideation sessions to explore innovation opportunities. Supporting Product Owners and Lead Engineers in prioritizing technical backlogs and providing coaching and mentoring to product and squad members is vital.

Additionally, the Product Lead Engineer will collaborate with squads and other Lead Engineers to manage risks, resolve dependencies, and escalate impediments. They will serve as the primary contact for ISRM, TQ (Q-CSV), vendors, and enterprise platform owners.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, IT, or a related discipline. They should have 2 to 4 years of relevant IT and business experience.

A strong understanding of global regulatory affairs, regulations, computer systems validation, and the regulatory technology landscape is essential. This includes knowledge of compliance requirements for medicinal product workflows, reporting, and information custody.

Experience leading platform selection, build, and integration is required, with expertise in data management, API architecture/design, and Cloud Native technologies. Proven success in owning products or platforms through their lifecycle in multi-team environments is expected.

Candidates must be proficient in at least one programming language such as C/C++, C#, Python, or Java, and have experience in code review. A solid grasp of Global Regulatory Affairs systems and their integration with downstream analytics, compliance, and dashboarding systems is necessary.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to present complex information across organizational levels. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of regulatory business needs, processes, value drivers, and industry trends.

A commitment to fostering a positive team culture that values diversity and openness is important. Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and platforms is essential. The role requires willingness to travel domestically up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with AI/ML technologies in a pharmaceutical business environment is highly desirable. Familiarity with Generative AI and Large Language Models will be an advantage.

Experience working with Agile methodologies, process engineering, and prototyping tools is preferred.
