Job Summary
The Purchase Officer – Food and Vegetables will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring fresh produce and essential food items for the organization. Key Responsibilities
The Purchase Officer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing fresh fruits, vegetables, and other perishable food items from trusted and reliable vendors. Identifying and onboarding new suppliers is essential to maintain a competitive and high-quality supplier base. The officer will continuously monitor market trends, seasonal availability, and price fluctuations to optimize procurement planning and budgeting.
Effective price negotiation and budget management are key to this role, ensuring procurement costs remain within allocated limits. The officer must guarantee timely delivery of goods to maintain optimal inventory levels, preventing both overstocking and shortages. Upon receipt, inspecting the quality and freshness of delivered items is crucial to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
Maintaining accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance is a fundamental responsibility. The officer will coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure proper storage and distribution of goods. Additionally, the role involves assisting in periodic audits and stock reconciliations to maintain transparency and accuracy in inventory management.
Building and sustaining positive relationships with suppliers and vendors is vital for long-term procurement success. All procurement activities must comply with company policies and procedures, ensuring ethical and efficient operations.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture or Agri Sciences. A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management is required, preferably within the food or hospitality industry. Strong knowledge of food and vegetable products, including grading standards and seasonal availability, is essential to perform effectively in this role.
