Job Summary
The IGCSE & Primary Coordinator is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the academic and administrative operations of both the IGCSE and Primary sections, covering grades 1 through 10. This position ensures the effective implementation of the Cambridge curriculum, supports continuous teacher development, monitors student progress, and facilitates strong collaboration among departments to maintain high educational standards. The Coordinator acts as a bridge between teachers, administration, and parents, driving academic excellence and smooth operational flow within the school.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
The Coordinator manages the delivery of the Cambridge IGCSE and Primary curriculum, ensuring that lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessment methods align with both Cambridge standards and school policies. They guide teachers in designing student-centered lessons that encourage active participation and engagement. From the outset of each academic year, the Coordinator ensures that teachers clearly communicate exam formats, mark distributions, and expectations to students.
Teacher Development & Supervision
A critical part of the role involves organizing regular professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance teaching quality. The Coordinator provides ongoing mentoring and coaching, conducts lesson observations, and addresses any classroom or academic challenges teachers face. They also develop and distribute teaching resources to support effective lesson delivery and improve instructional methods.
Student Performance & Assessment
Monitoring student progress and assessment outcomes is essential to this role. The Coordinator identifies learning gaps and implements strategies to improve student engagement, critical thinking, and skill development. They oversee the setting, reviewing, and moderation of exam papers to ensure high standards are maintained. Additionally, the Coordinator manages IGCSE coursework and exam preparation processes to support student success.
Coordination & Communication
Serving as a liaison between school administration, teaching staff, and parents, the Coordinator organizes parent-teacher meetings and provides regular updates on student progress. They ensure that school policies comply with Cambridge guidelines and work closely with subject lead trainers and department heads to enhance curriculum delivery and foster a collaborative academic environment.
Administrative Responsibilities
The Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining academic calendars, timetables, and schedules for both students and teachers. They oversee classroom environments, resource allocation, and discipline policies to create a conducive learning atmosphere. Maintaining accurate student academic records and teacher evaluation reports also falls under their purview. Furthermore, they assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new teaching staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in academic coordination within IGCSE and Primary education settings.
- Strong understanding of the Cambridge curriculum, assessment patterns, and teaching methodologies.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in teacher training, curriculum development, and assessment strategies.
