Job Summary
We are looking for a committed healthcare professional to join our gynecological and obstetric outpatient department (OPD) team. The primary focus of this role is to conduct thorough antenatal checkups and provide essential support to both patients and medical staff. Responsibilities include patient counseling, assisting doctors during clinical procedures, maintaining strict hygiene standards, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting maternal and newborn health through education and clinical care, while also contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the OPD.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting comprehensive antenatal checkups is a core responsibility. This involves taking detailed patient histories, measuring vital signs, and documenting all relevant information accurately. The role requires providing clear and compassionate counseling to expectant mothers on various topics such as pregnancy care, family planning options, breastfeeding techniques, and immunization schedules.
Supporting doctors during gynecological and obstetric procedures is essential. This includes preparing patients for examinations and medical interventions, ensuring their comfort, and facilitating procedural efficiency. Maintaining clinical hygiene is critical; the candidate will be responsible for cleaning and sterilizing OPD instruments and equipment to meet infection control standards.
Accurate record-keeping is vital. The candidate must maintain up-to-date patient records using OPD registers or appropriate healthcare software systems. Additionally, they will support newborn care education and promote maternal health awareness by guiding mothers on nutrition, hygiene, and baby care practices.
Monitoring patients in observation areas closely and promptly reporting any complications or concerns to the attending doctor is a key safety measure. Managing patient flow within the OPD to reduce waiting times and ensure timely service delivery is also part of the role. The candidate may be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or hospital management to support overall departmental functions.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a relevant healthcare qualification with practical experience in antenatal, gynecological, or obstetric care. Proficiency in conducting clinical assessments and documenting patient data accurately is essential. Strong communication skills are required to provide effective patient counseling and education.
The ability to assist medical professionals during clinical procedures is necessary, along with a solid understanding of infection control practices and equipment sterilization. Competence in managing patient records using registers or healthcare software is expected. The candidate should be capable of monitoring patient conditions vigilantly and escalating issues appropriately. A commitment to maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting specializing in maternal and child health is highly desirable. Familiarity with newborn care education and maternal health promotion initiatives will be an advantage. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team and efficiently manage OPD workflow.
This is a full-time, in-person position offering a meaningful opportunity to contribute to maternal and child healthcare services. Candidates who are passionate about supporting maternal and newborn health and dedicated to upholding high standards of clinical care are encouraged to apply.
