Job Summary
The Product Owner is a critical role responsible for steering the product throughout its entire lifecycle, from initial concept to delivery and continuous improvement. This role requires gathering and prioritizing customer and business requirements, defining a compelling product vision, and working closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, sales, marketing, and support. The Product Owner ensures alignment with revenue goals and customer satisfaction by driving product feature planning, execution, and validation. Additionally, this role empowers development teams and contributes to ongoing product enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain the product vision and roadmap by collaborating with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams. Translate this vision into actionable epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria and definitions of done. Prioritize work items based on business impact and strategic objectives to maximize value delivery.
Partner with Customer Success, Marketing, and Sales to address customer needs by prioritizing defects and feature requests effectively. Collaborate with engineering to estimate effort using story points or other appropriate methods, ensuring realistic planning and forecasting.
Implement tracking mechanisms to monitor progress and maintain transparency of the development team’s workload. Organize and lead product demonstrations, reviews, and user acceptance testing to validate feature delivery and quality.
Develop clear and concise documentation, including articles on new features and product improvements, tailored for both technical and business audiences. Act as a product evangelist by promoting new capabilities and enhancements internally to Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams.
Lead and mentor a team of Product Analysts by establishing best practices, processes, and standards. Participate actively in hiring and coaching efforts to build a high-performing product team.
Facilitate SCRUM ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring adherence to Agile principles. Champion the Agile Release Train methodology to drive continuous delivery and alignment across teams.
Required Qualifications
A strong grasp of both business and technical aspects of product development is essential. Demonstrated excellence in decision-making, prioritization, and negotiation skills is required to balance competing demands effectively. Proven experience in planning and forecasting supports successful product delivery.
Candidates must possess solid technical and analytical skills, along with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. Leadership experience is critical, including the capacity to motivate, coach, and inspire stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Previous roles as a Product Owner or Project Manager are highly desirable. Familiarity with backlog management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or other Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) systems is expected. Experience working within SCRUM or other Agile frameworks is necessary.
The ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence change by leading through example is a key attribute for success in this role.
