Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is seeking a seasoned and visionary Head of Information Technology to join its senior leadership team in Karachi on a contractual basis. This role requires a dynamic leader capable of aligning IT strategy with the organization’s healthcare objectives and quality standards. The successful candidate will spearhead the development and deployment of innovative, scalable IT solutions while maintaining a resilient infrastructure to support evolving care models and cross-functional initiatives. A critical focus will be placed on embedding information security practices that comply with international standards such as ISO, NABH, and JCI. The Head of IT will also champion cybersecurity awareness, lead digital health strategies, oversee business continuity planning, and support key healthcare programs like the National Health Insurance (NHI), all while upholding the organization’s core values of integrity, respect, compassion, and inclusiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for IT and process improvement initiatives that align with organizational goals and healthcare quality standards.
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of IT solutions and process improvement methodologies to support evolving care delivery models.
- Foster innovation and continuous learning by developing IT staff capabilities and cultivating change champions across departments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure IT projects integrate seamlessly with organizational priorities.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with sister agencies locally and internationally to leverage technology and share best practices.
- Assess the technology landscape to identify innovation opportunities, optimize systems architecture, and ensure infrastructure readiness.
- Monitor emerging technologies and advise senior leadership on potential business impacts.
- Develop and enforce robust information security policies and controls to protect patient data and organizational assets, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Lead cybersecurity awareness programs and manage risk mitigation and incident response efforts.
- Develop and manage the annual IT budget, including forecasting, cost analysis, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with finance and other departments to monitor budget performance and implement cost control measures.
- Develop and maintain business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management plans related to IT operations.
- Lead the organization’s digital health strategy and oversee the execution of digital health programs.
- Oversee the implementation and integration of ISO, NABH, and JCI accreditation standards across departments.
- Provide expert IT guidance to support participation in the National Health Insurance program.
- Manage, mentor, and motivate a high-performing IT team comprising permanent staff and consultants.
- Oversee IT project lifecycles, vendor relationships, and ensure timely delivery within scope and budget.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity, equity, and respect.
- Support organizational environmental sustainability goals by identifying and reducing the environmental impact of IT operations.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in IT within healthcare or a related sector.
- Proven success in implementing ERP systems, complex IT projects, monitoring and evaluation systems, and process improvement initiatives.
- Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments, including government bodies, healthcare providers, and vendors.
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills with a track record of managing multidisciplinary teams.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare IT systems, primary and secondary care processes, and international quality standards such as ISO, NABH, and JCI.
- Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills in English and Urdu.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant IT management tools.
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
Professional certifications in IT management, project management (e.g., PMP), or healthcare quality standards are highly desirable.
