Job Summary

Adam Smith International (ASI), a leading global advisory firm with nearly 30 years of experience across almost 100 countries, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Accounts Payable Manager (Consultant) for a six-month full-time consultancy. ASI partners with governments, foundations, and companies worldwide to strengthen economies, improve societal safety, and enhance government effectiveness. This role will oversee the end-to-end accounts payable operations across ASI’s global branches and subsidiaries. The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving complex legacy issues and driving process improvements to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with international accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

Manage comprehensive accounts payable operations across all ASI global offices and subsidiaries, ensuring smooth and efficient processing of invoices. Oversee the timely and accurate uploading of AP invoices by AP Officers, maintaining the integrity of the AP ledger with precise postings and classifications.

Lead efforts to reconcile legacy accounts payable issues, including supplier aging and historical discrepancies, working closely with vendors to coordinate reconciliations and resolve ongoing and legacy problems. Collaborate with global finance and project teams to optimize AP workflows and standardize processes.

Utilize Sage Intacct ERP for transaction processing, reporting, and resolving any issues that arise within the system. Prepare and present regular accounts payable reports, aging summaries, and reconciliation statements to senior management, ensuring transparency and accuracy.

Coordinate with Shared Services and Regional finance teams to resolve discrepancies and enhance reporting accuracy. Access and manage the XE payment module to facilitate swift review and approval of international and domestic payments.

Identify and support opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounts payable function to increase efficiency and reduce errors. Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and international accounting standards throughout all AP activities.

Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential. Candidates should hold a professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CAF, CA, or CIMA, which is highly preferred.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5-7 years of finance experience, including at least 3 years in an accounts payable managerial or supervisory role. Proven experience working in multi-entity, multinational environments is critical.

Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct ERP is desirable, along with demonstrated ability to resolve legacy accounting issues and perform complex reconciliations. Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail are required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective engagement with global stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently under tight deadlines.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and manage teams across different geographies are also necessary.
