We are looking for an experienced and driven Product Owner with specialized knowledge in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to lead the ongoing development and enhancement of our LIMS platform. This hybrid position blends product ownership, business analysis, and subject matter expertise to ensure the system effectively supports laboratory operations across industries such as Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and Environmental Testing. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of laboratory workflows, data management, and regulatory compliance, working closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions that meet organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the LIMS platform to align with business objectives. Prioritize and manage the product backlog to reflect user needs and organizational priorities. Act as the primary liaison for the LIMS product, representing the voice of customers and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle. Collaborate with development teams during sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to ensure smooth delivery of features. Translate complex business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications. Create process flows, use case diagrams, and other visual documentation to communicate requirements effectively. Conduct gap analyses to identify discrepancies between current system capabilities and desired functionality. Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and provide ongoing assistance to end-users. Serve as a subject matter expert on LIMS functionality, data management best practices, and relevant industry standards. Guide users on workflows and data entry procedures to maximize system efficiency. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to LIMS to drive innovation. Participate in evaluating and selecting new LIMS modules or system enhancements. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GLP, and GMP. Develop and deliver training materials and documentation to support users. Configure and customize the LIMS platform to meet specific laboratory workflows and needs.
In addition to product ownership, this role includes leadership responsibilities similar to those of a Software Engineering Leader. The candidate will oversee teams delivering high-quality software solutions aligned with strategic objectives. This involves strategic planning, decision-making, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture within software engineering teams. Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, executives, and stakeholders is essential to ensure successful software development initiatives.
Required Qualifications
10 to 16 years of relevant experience in product ownership, business analysis, or subject matter expertise within LIMS or related laboratory software systems. Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, data management principles, and applicable regulatory frameworks. Proven ability to define product vision, manage backlogs, and translate business needs into technical requirements. Extensive experience working with Agile methodologies, including sprint ceremonies and backlog grooming. Excellent verbal communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders and development teams. Demonstrated expertise in creating process flows, use case diagrams, and user stories. Experience supporting user acceptance testing and providing end-user training and support. Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GLP, and GMP.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience in software engineering leadership or managing cross-functional teams is a plus. Familiarity with emerging LIMS technologies and industry trends is highly desirable. Ability to foster a positive, collaborative environment and mentor team members. Opportunity to work in a hybrid model combining remote and on-site collaboration.
This role offers a unique chance to influence the future of laboratory information management within a dynamic, regulated environment, driving innovation and operational excellence.
