Supervision & Leadership:
- Manage a team of building control officers, ensuring their work meets high standards.
- Provide training and professional development to team members.
- Allocate tasks and ensure workloads are effectively managed within the team.
- Offer advice and support on complex or challenging building projects.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that building projects comply with all relevant building codes, regulations, and standards.
- Review building plans and specifications to assess compliance with regulations.
- Conduct inspections of building sites to monitor compliance and safety.
- Interpret and apply building regulations, codes, and laws.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential risks related to building safety and compliance.
- Advise clients, contractors, and other stakeholders on risk mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and local authorities to ensure smooth project progress.
- Provide guidance and advice to developers, homeowners, and other stakeholders on regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments or external organizations on building control matters.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation of inspections, approvals, and compliance.
- Prepare detailed reports for senior management, councils, or other stakeholders regarding building projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant changes to building regulations.
Problem-Solving:
- Resolve disputes between stakeholders related to building control matters.
- Handle complaints or concerns raised by the public or other departments.
Budget Management:
- Oversee budgets related to building control activities.
- Manage resources effectively to ensure efficient operations.
Health & Safety:
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained on all building sites and projects.
- Monitor compliance with fire safety regulations and other safety-related standards.
