It was a small school of total 20 students. The principal was running the school at home. There were 3 teachers there. It was a great learning experience in the field of education and training. Our principal was highly visible, out in the hallways, interacting with teachers and students, she was a problem solver, a great visionary and dedicated to her profession. I learnt a lot from her.
I worked as a class teacher for class 3 and a subject teacher for 2 and 4. I taught science, social studies and Islamic studies to classes 2 and 4. And English, science and social studies to class 3.
This was my first experience in the field of education and training. I learnt basic things about teaching kids.
Children and teenagers learn by seeing, hearing, exploring, experimenting and asking questions.
A child will become a more independent learner, but she’ll still need the teacher's encouragement for learning.
Encourage kids to try new things, to make mistakes and to learn about who she is through new experiences. Keep praising them for trying new things.
Respond to children's feelings. For example, share their excitement when they masters something new, and be patient when they are having trouble.
Show an interest in children activities. For example, if he enjoys watching cartoons , ask him about a cartoon character he likes.
