<div><p>Musculoskeletal conditions frequently have psychological impacts, similar as depression. One musculoskeletal problem that can cause pain and stiffness in the shoulder is frozen shoulder (FS).Duplay first described frozen shoulder as "humeroscapular periarthritis" in 1879, and the condition has remained contentious ever since.The exact etiology of frozen shoulder is unknown; still, diabetes mellitus is one of the major threat factors associated with this complaint.Frozen shoulder (FS) is a common habitual shoulder complaint with an estimate frequency of at least 2% in the general population, with middle-aged people, ladies, and the non-dominant shoulder being the most affected.Individual with FS frequently suffer from shoulder pain and ROM limitations as the main clinical symptoms; also, the course of the complaint is frequently long-term, which leads to farther functional disability that effect their quality of life.</p> <p>The phrase "Frozen Shoulder" was invented by Codman in 1934 to describe a painful loss of shoulder mobility with normal radiography imaging. Clinical symptoms included a gradual development of shoulder discomfort, restricted movement at the glenohumeral joint, and difficulty sleeping on the affected side. </p> <p>Naviesar coined the name "Adhesive Capsulitis" in 1945 and proposed that the thickness and rigidity of the glenohumeral capsule causes this condition. Patients diagnosed with frozen shoulder are often treated in physical medicine, orthopedics, and physiotherapy.</p> <p>According toTitchener et al. (2014) conducted an extensive longitudinal cohort analysis, revealing stress as a significant risk element for the subsequent appearanceof adhesive capsulitis.</p> <p>Supporting these findings, a recent meta-analysis by Shin et al. (2020) synthesize data from various studies, establishing depression as notably linked to a heightened risk of developing frozen shoulder. The comprehensive analysis emphasized the necessity of incorporating psychological aspects into the understanding of adhesive capsulitis etiology. By synthesizing findings across multiple studies, Shin et al.'s meta-analysis provides robust evidence supporting the association between depression and the incidence of frozen shoulder.</p> <p>Frozen shoulder is commonly seen in middle-aged adults, particularly those between the ages of 40 and 60, and is often associated with conditions like diabetes, thyroid disorders, or a history of trauma. The condition is typically divided into three stages: freezing, frozen, and thawing, each with progressively less motion and more intense pain.</p> <p>Depression, in turn, is often linked with chronic pain conditions. It can significantly affect a patient’s motivation, ability to engage in rehabilitation, and overall perception of pain.</p> <p>Tertiary Care Hospital Perspective:</p> <ul> <li>In a tertiary care hospital, which handles more complex and severe cases, there is often a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
