Automatic Railway Gate Controlling Through Image Processing

At railway gate crossings many accidents are being occurred and have been reported in the past. Major reasons are due to the laziness and carelessness in manual operations and lack of worker availability. Automatic Railway Gate Control System (ARGCS) is an attempt to overcome these problems. The project is developed using image processing and machine learning techniques for saving many human lives and avoiding the major disasters in railway track. This system works totally autonomous, having the ability to take decisions on a self-basis. The system works on the basis of real-time object detection and in this case, the object is our train which we want to detect. The datasets of the object are trained with the help of machine learning algorithm. After using the trained model we capture the incoming train with the camera and the signal is sent from a video camera device to the railway gates. On receiving the signal, the gates closed before the arrival of the train in a specific range and opened again through the same process when there is no train on the track. This system is efficient in terms of accuracy and time.
