This role offers an opportunity to make a lasting impact on education in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Deputy General Manager (DGM), Gilgit-Baltistan, will lead the management and development of a network of 109 schools in Gilgit-Baltistan, comprising K-12, high, middle, and primary schools. The role also involves overseeing several support functions integral to the region's educational and operational excellence.
The DGM will support the General Manager (GM) in driving school improvement and operational efficiency across the AKES, P network as per the organization’s Long-Term Strategy, focusing on expanding access to quality education and enhancing student learning outcomes.
The position encompasses managing diverse school operations, implementing strategic initiatives, ensuring effective coordination, and overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of schools. Gradually assume responsibility for academic functions and leadership across the region.

Requirements:

Master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of proven management experience with reputable institutions.
Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills in English.
Proficiency in education management, operational planning, and tools like MS Word and Excel.
Demonstrated experience in improving school outcomes and mentoring staff.

Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P) is a network of educational institutions that combines the operation of 159 schools and 5 hostels with the management of programmes to enhance the quality of teachers, academic resources and learning environments in Pakistan through community partnerships and long-term interventions. It is one of the largest third-sector networks of educational institutions in Pakistan and part of an international network of over 200 schools spread in 8 countries of the world under the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). Reaching out to the remotest areas of the country, AKES,P has been providing quality education in the region for the past 110 years. It is a direct provider of education for nearly 36,000 students from pre-primary to higher secondary levels and facilitates access to higher education through the provision of scholarships, hostels and other educational support services.With more than 2,000 employees, of whom over 1,500 areteachers, AKES,P is also supported by over 2,000 volunteers. In Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, the first AKES,P schools were setup in the 1940s; since then they have contributed significantly toincreasing the literacy rates and social development in theremote, mountainous, harsh and ecologically fragile regions ofNorthern Pakistan. AKES,P currently operates 151 schools inGilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, providing education to over 27,000students, of which 54% are girls. Through these efforts, AKES,Pis continuing to play a critical role in women’s development inthe region. In the Southern Region, AKES,P operates four schools in Karachi,three in Hyderabad and rural Sindh and one in Hafizabad,Punjab, with over 8,900 students. All AKES,P schools follow theNational Curriculum but place special emphasis on the teachingof English, Mathematics, Science and the increasing use ofInformation and Communication Technologies (ICT).
