1. Administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures, including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and monitored anesthesia care.
2. Assess patients before and after anesthesia, including reviewing medical histories, performing physical exams, and monitoring vital signs.
3. Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized anesthesia plans for patients.
4. Manage patients' airways and breathing during surgery, and adjust anesthesia levels as necessary to maintain appropriate levels of sedation.
5. Administer medication to relieve pain and manage post-operative pain.
6. Monitor patients' recovery from anesthesia and manage any complications that arise.
7. Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records.
8. Stay current with advances in anesthesia technology, pharmacology, and techniques.
9. Supervise and train other healthcare professionals, including certified registered nurse anesthetists and anesthesia assistants.
10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with hospital policies and procedures.
