Consultant, LN

The Consultant, LN position based in Peshawar, Pakistan, focuses on delivering mental health and psychosocial support services through individual and group counseling and psychotherapy. This role involves working closely with clients and their families to address various mental health conditions and psychosocial challenges. The consultant will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, support staff training, conduct risk assessments, and participate in community-based mental health promotion activities. Key Responsibilities
Deliver evidence-based psychological services to clients and their families experiencing mental health and psychosocial difficulties. Participate actively in clinical and supportive supervision to improve service quality. Collaborate as a member of a mental health case management team alongside other service providers. Facilitate and support training sessions for staff on psychological practices and case management topics. Develop individualized care plans in partnership with clients to ensure tailored interventions. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders within a multidisciplinary framework. Conduct risk assessments and assist staff in creating effective safety plans. Stay updated on evidence-based psychological interventions and advancements in the field. Promote mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) through community engagement activities. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Psychology and/or a valid license to practice psychology is mandatory. Candidates must have at least three years of experience in mental health, preferably within an NGO environment. Proficiency in at least one psychotherapy technique is required. Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Urdu, and Pashto are necessary. The ability to work effectively under pressure in low-resource settings is important. Candidates should demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in a multiethnic environment with respect. A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning is expected.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Requirements
Experience working with refugees or within non-governmental organizations is highly desirable. Knowledge of human rights, especially concerning individuals with mental health and psychosocial issues, is an asset. Fluency in Arabic is considered advantageous.

The consultant is expected to uphold and promote a culture of compliance and ethics, adhering to International Medical Corps’ standards and donor requirements. This includes preventing and reporting violations related to conflicts of interest, fraud, corruption, harassment, and safeguarding policies. Supervisory responsibilities include modeling ethical behavior, ensuring team compliance, and supporting staff who raise concerns in good faith.
