As a Database Administrator (DBA) at Excelergy, you will be responsible for managing and supporting database environments for both customers and internal teams including development, operations, and professional services. Your role will involve overseeing data across multiple systems and data centers, ensuring smooth daily operations, and performing performance tuning for development, test, and production environments that handle hundreds of terabytes of data. Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, this position requires a high level of autonomy and may occasionally require after-hours or weekend support. Given the sensitive nature of the data, strict adherence to corporate compliance and security standards is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide application support and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
- Develop and implement procedures and scripts to enhance database maintenance and operational processes.
- Ensure data consistency and completeness across customer systems.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues in collaboration with application teams and clients.
- Coordinate database changes with technical teams, project managers, and leadership.
- Deliver expertise in SQL tuning, backup and recovery, installation, configuration, patching, partitioning, data archiving, capacity planning, and security architecture.
- Design and develop SSRS reports and Power BI dashboards.
- Monitor and maintain database backups, optimization jobs, and integrity checks, applying corrective measures as necessary.
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and manage scheduled reports and jobs.
- Support the adoption of new technologies and contribute to setting the technical direction for database administration.
- Participate in detailed design discussions and product testing activities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and stay updated with industry best practices.
- Undertake additional projects and duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Between 2 to 7 years of experience in database administration within Windows environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to document complex technical solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, PL/SQL, and advanced SQL scripting.
- Experience with instance configuration, query tuning, database upgrades, patching, backup, and recovery processes.
- Skilled in PowerShell scripting, SSIS package development, SSRS reporting, and Power BI solutions.
- Knowledge of advanced database concepts such as replication, materialized views, and standby databases.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Oracle 12c and Azure SQL Database is required.
