Senior Sub-Editor job is available in Islamabad, Lahore & Rawalpindi for a leading Media Group. An ideal candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication or related field along with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in news editing, scriptwriting, and translation, particularly within a print or digital newsroom environment.

Senior Sub-Editor job role is to oversee the editing and quality control of news content, ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in language, translate and adapt stories from English to Urdu, and guide the editorial team in maintaining high journalistic standards across print and digital platforms.

Job Responsibilities:

Review and edit news stories, features, and scripts for grammar, accuracy, clarity, and consistency
Ensure all content adheres to the organization’s editorial standards and language style
Translate content from English to Urdu with accuracy and fluency
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior sub-editors and writers
Coordinate with reporters and editorial staff to meet tight deadlines
Fact-check and verify sources and information before publication
Make decisions on headlines, captions, and page layouts
Liaise with the design and digital teams for content placement and visuals

Skills:

Excellent command over written Urdu and a strong grasp of English
Proficiency in news editing, scriptwriting, and translation
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks under pressure
Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail
Knowledge of media ethics and fact-checking practices
