Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Retail Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will efficiently handle sales transactions, assist customers with product inquiries, and maintain accurate inventory records. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support customers with varying needs, including those requiring assistance with large or heavy items.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately scan items using a barcode scanner or manually input item information into the computer system to ensure precise transaction processing.
- Clearly explain pricing details to customers, including sale prices and unit prices, to assist them in making informed purchasing decisions.
- Verify that products are correctly placed in their designated bins or shelves, maintaining an organized and accessible retail environment.
- Process payments made by cash or check, ensuring correct change is provided promptly and accurately.
- Assist customers who have difficulty carrying large or heavy items, including elderly or disabled individuals, by delivering their purchases to their vehicles or designated areas.
- Review printed receipts to confirm accuracy and completeness before handing them to customers.
- Enter customer purchase information into computerized inventory systems to maintain up-to-date stock records and support inventory management.
- Stock shelves with new merchandise, ensuring products are displayed neatly and attractively, while also removing outdated or damaged items from shelves to maintain quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in retail or customer service roles, demonstrating the ability to handle transactions and assist customers effectively.
- Basic proficiency with barcode scanners and computerized point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate scanning, pricing, and inventory recording.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly explain pricing and respond to customer inquiries.
- Physical ability to lift and carry items, including assisting customers with heavy or bulky products.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and commitment to providing excellent customer service.
