Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, managing day-to-day financial transactions, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts, handling both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable efficiently.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and maintain accurate entries within the general ledger.
- Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with current regulations.
- Aid in the preparation of year-end accounts and compile necessary audit documentation.
- Help maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring all assets are accurately recorded and tracked.
- Monitor customer accounts closely to ensure timely collections and reduce overdue payments.
- Contact clients regarding overdue accounts through calls, emails, and formal written correspondence to facilitate prompt resolution.
- Investigate and resolve any billing discrepancies or queries to maintain strong client relationships.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all communications and payment statuses for audit and reporting purposes.
- Set up credit terms and limits in accordance with company policies to manage financial risk effectively.
- Prepare aged debtor reports regularly and escalate overdue debts to the appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of UK accounting principles and VAT regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy.
