Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Operations Supervisor to oversee making and packing operations within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring shift targets related to volume, quality, output reliability, cost efficiency, and safety are consistently met. This role requires strong leadership skills to manage a diverse workforce, optimize material usage, and drive continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with supply chain planning, safety management, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate making and packing operations to meet or exceed shift production targets, ensuring high standards of volume, quality, output reliability, cost control, and safety compliance.
- Organize and manage labor resources, including operators, technicians, and contract workers, by assessing required numbers and skill sets to maximize productivity.
- Monitor material consumption and yield closely, implementing strategies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Minimize material variance by optimizing the use of chemicals and packaging materials, while maintaining accurate and detailed records of usage.
- Oversee weekly and monthly stock counts, ensuring accuracy and integrity of inventory records, including all Fourth Shift transactions.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols by ensuring all workers wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Lead autonomous maintenance activities on the shop floor to maintain equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Support the implementation and adherence to best practices such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and audit recommendations to enhance operational standards.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and coordinate targeted training programs to upskill workers and improve overall team capability.
- Drive continuous improvement by regularly identifying opportunities for process development and operational enhancements.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in managing shop floor operations with a strong focus on safety, health, and environmental compliance.
- Solid understanding of supply chain operations, particularly in planning and inventory management.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to support operational planning and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and organize a diverse workforce, including direct employees and contract staff.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor material usage, yield, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Experience in implementing and supporting industry best practices such as TPM and HACCP.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with cross-functional teams and drive training initiatives.
