Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant to manage and oversee all costing activities within our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate product costing, conducting variance analysis, and delivering insightful cost reports to support business decisions. This role requires close collaboration with production, procurement, and inventory teams to maintain data integrity and optimize cost management processes. The successful candidate will also contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and audit activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, monitor, and control all costing activities to guarantee precise product costing and comprehensive variance analysis. Prepare and review product cost sheets, bills of materials (BOM), and standard costing structures to maintain accuracy and consistency. Regularly monitor cost variances, identify underlying causes, and propose corrective measures to address discrepancies.
Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual cost audits and reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. Support inventory valuation processes by ensuring correct recording of material consumption and liaising with relevant departments. Collaborate closely with production, procurement, and stores teams to verify data accuracy and align processes across functions.
Assist in the development and maintenance of cost accounting systems and internal controls to enhance efficiency and reliability. Participate actively in budgeting and forecasting exercises, focusing on cost components to provide realistic and actionable financial insights. Prepare detailed management reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost performance for senior leadership.
Ensure strict adherence to internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting standards such as IFRS and IAS. Provide necessary cost-related data and analysis to support both internal and external audit processes, facilitating smooth and transparent audit outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Strong analytical and numerical skills are essential to interpret complex cost data and perform accurate variance analysis. Proficiency in ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms is required to manage costing and inventory data effectively. Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting capabilities, are critical for this role.
A solid understanding of costing methodologies, standard costing, and inventory management principles is necessary to perform core responsibilities efficiently. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to prepare clear reports and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Expertise in standard costing, variance analysis, and cost optimization strategies is vital to drive cost control and reporting improvements.
