Job Summary
The Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II) based in Islamabad plays a vital role within the Quality Engineering team, working closely with Technology Functions and Business units to deliver high-quality products. Operating in a global Agile environment, this role empowers independent decision-making to enhance customer experience, support revenue growth, and enable efficient operations through rapid, quality-driven product development. The primary focus is on designing and implementing automated testing solutions for Web, Mobile, API, and Services applications. By leveraging automation and innovative testing techniques, the SDET II helps reduce time to market while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Design and develop automation and performance testing solutions that comply with organizational standards. This includes creating reliable, reusable, and maintainable automated regression suites and test harnesses. Utilize a variety of tools and frameworks to build automation and performance scripts that simplify complex testing scenarios.

Develop detailed test plans and test cases based on functional and design specifications. Execute these tests, analyze results, and provide comprehensive reports to stakeholders. Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure timely delivery of business functionalities that meet acceptance criteria and quality benchmarks.

Provide guidance and support to project teams by reviewing and approving test scripts, expected outcomes, test results, and defect descriptions. This ensures adherence to established methodologies and project schedules. Focus on efficient testing solutions across Web, Services/APIs, and Database layers.

Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including meetings, project scoping, functional reviews, and technical discussions. Engage in requirements review sessions with a strong emphasis on test automation and performance strategies, ensuring best practices are consistently applied.

Contribute to functional, system, and regression testing activities while gathering quality assurance data and metrics to drive insights and informed decision-making. Conduct risk analysis and estimation to support the delivery of high-quality software.

Required Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in software testing or development with a solid understanding of testing, coding, and debugging processes. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C#, or Java is essential. Hands-on experience with Databricks is required.

Strong expertise in distributed version control systems like Git and advanced SQL/PL-SQL skills for querying, stored procedures, and relational database management. Proven experience designing and developing automated tests using tools such as Selenium and Appium across UI, service, and data layers, including root cause analysis.

Ability to advise teams on identifying automatable test cases and collaborate with developers to produce automation- and performance-friendly code. Experience in refactoring and extending test automation and performance frameworks is important.

Familiarity with SOAP and REST services and a good understanding of SOA architecture is expected. Excellent communication skills are necessary to clearly explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices and Agile methodologies is advantageous. Exposure to continuous integration (CI), DevOps, and rolling deployment or upgrade models is preferred. Knowledge of test data management and mapping automated test code coverage adds value.

Experience in developing test plans, conducting exploratory testing, and maintaining defect reports is beneficial. Familiarity with performance testing tools such as HP LoadRunner, Performance Center, StormRunner, or JMeter is a plus.
