Oracle Database Administrator

Job Summary
We are seeking a proficient Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience to join our dynamic team in Bangalore, Hyderabad, or Trivandrum. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle database environments to ensure high availability, scalability, and security. This role demands strong expertise in Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, and Oracle GoldenGate, combined with excellent problem-solving and performance tuning skills. You will work closely with application teams to support development, testing, and production systems in a fast-paced environment, aligning database operations with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Maintenance:
You will install, configure, and upgrade Oracle databases across versions 11g, 12c, 19c, or later. Managing database schemas, tablespaces, storage structures, and objects such as indexes and views will be a core part of your role. You will also perform patching and upgrades with minimal downtime to maintain system stability and reliability.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery:
The role involves configuring and supporting Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM environments to ensure continuous database availability. You will develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and conduct regular disaster recovery drills to validate business continuity plans.

Performance Tuning & Monitoring:
You will monitor database health and performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), identifying and resolving bottlenecks related to storage, CPU, memory, and query execution. Utilizing diagnostic tools such as AWR, ASH, and ADDM will be essential to optimize database performance.

Security & Compliance:
Implementing database security measures including user and role management, encryption, and auditing will be critical. You must ensure compliance with internal security policies and external regulatory requirements to safeguard data integrity.

Automation & Support:
Automating routine DBA tasks through shell scripting or tools like Ansible will improve operational efficiency. You will collaborate with application teams to optimize SQL queries and provide support for development activities. Acting as the primary contact for troubleshooting database incidents will also be part of your responsibilities.

Documentation & Reporting:
Maintaining comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies is essential. You will generate regular reports on performance metrics, capacity planning, and system health to keep stakeholders informed.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills:
- Proven experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
- Proficiency in RMAN, OEM, and SQL*Plus.
- Strong knowledge of advanced Oracle features including partitioning, materialized views, and indexing.
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an Oracle DBA in production environments.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent certifications preferred.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with Oracle Exadata and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is highly desirable. Familiarity with automation and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and Ansible will be advantageous. Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies is considered a plus.
