Job Summary
ZMC is currently seeking a proficient Operating Theatre (OT) Technician with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing the operating theatre environment, assisting surgeons during operations, and ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment meet rigorous sterilization and operational standards. This full-time, on-site position demands a commitment to maintaining efficient surgical workflows while strictly adhering to hospital infection control protocols. The role involves working morning and evening shifts, supporting a seamless surgical schedule.
Key Responsibilities
The OT Technician will be responsible for preparing the operating theatre by arranging all necessary instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies tailored to each surgical procedure. During surgeries, the technician will assist the surgeon by promptly and accurately passing instruments and materials, ensuring the procedure flows smoothly without interruption.
In addition, the technician will aid in patient positioning and prepare the surgical site using sterile drapes under the surgeon’s direction. A critical part of the role is to ensure that all instruments and equipment are thoroughly sterilized before and after each procedure, strictly following hospital infection control guidelines.
The technician must verify the functionality of essential OT machines such as suction devices, cautery units, and surgical lights before surgery begins, immediately reporting any malfunctions to maintain safety and efficiency. Post-procedure, the technician will assist in cleaning and re-sterilizing the operating theatre and prepare it promptly for subsequent surgeries, helping to maintain the surgical schedule without delays.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Diploma in Operating Theatre Technology from a recognized institute. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience as an OT Technician is essential. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards to ensure patient safety and compliance with hospital protocols.
The role requires the ability to work effectively under pressure, maintaining concentration and composure during surgical procedures. Female candidates are preferred for this position, aligning with the hospital’s staffing requirements.
