Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented candidate with at least one year of experience working in a port environment to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) awareness, advanced computer and reporting skills, and excellent verbal communication abilities. This role is critical in ensuring strict compliance with HSE protocols, conducting hazard identification, and maintaining a safe workplace through continuous observation and proactive intervention. A presentable personality and strong interpersonal skills are essential to effectively collaborate with team members and support Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) activities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will conduct routine inspections of terminal areas to verify adherence to HSE standards. This includes checking the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring safe working practices are followed. Maintaining the readiness of firefighting systems and taking necessary actions under senior supervision is a key part of the role.

You will be responsible for verifying the adequacy of emergency exits and reporting any incidents promptly, as well as participating in investigations when required. Engaging in hazard identification, risk assessments, and environmental impact assessments will be a regular duty.

Issuing on-site work permits after confirming compliance with all HSE requirements is essential. Monitoring and maintaining life buoys at the wharf side and assisting in inspections of firefighting apparatus across the terminal are also part of the daily tasks.

Participation in various HSE drills—including evacuation, life buoy, and spill drills—is expected. You will assist in the testing, inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of fire alarm and hydrant systems, as well as support the upkeep of first aid boxes and provide basic first aid when necessary.

Delivering on-site safety talks and contributing to Integrated Management System (IMS) and QHSE-related training activities will be part of your responsibilities. Environmental monitoring activities such as emission and drinking water testing will also require your involvement.

You will identify and report HSE-related issues, intervene when violations occur, and document these instances thoroughly. Monitoring hygienic conditions in terminal areas and responding appropriately is critical to maintaining workplace safety.

Executing assigned HSE project-based activities and coordinating with team members to resolve QHSE issues will be part of your role. Additionally, you will assist senior department members in completing QHSE tasks and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of one year of experience in the shipping and port industry. A general awareness of HSE principles is necessary, along with advanced computer and reporting skills. Strong verbal communication, a presentable personality, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.

Additional Information

This position requires the ability to work under supervision while taking ownership of assigned tasks. Candidates should demonstrate a positive, open-minded approach to daily challenges. The role involves working in a shift system, including day, night, weekend, and holiday duties.

Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, technical knowledge, and cost awareness are vital. Frequent terminal visits and monitoring of staff activities—including both KGTL employees and contractors—are integral to the job.

This is a full-time, in-person position offering a competitive monthly salary ranging from Rs. 55,000 to Rs. 70,000. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply before the deadline on May 25, 2025.
