Librarian

Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and organized Librarian to manage and maintain the library’s resources, ensuring a clean, orderly, and secure environment. The successful candidate will oversee the library inventory, assist students with research, and supervise staff to ensure smooth daily operations. This full-time position is based in Karachi and requires candidates to have reliable commuting options or be willing to relocate before starting work.

Key Responsibilities
The Librarian will be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the library while protecting all resources. This includes developing and organizing the library’s inventory, which encompasses books, collections, periodicals, and multimedia materials. Regular audits and updates of the library’s database are essential to ensure accuracy and accessibility of information.

Supporting students is a critical part of this role. The librarian will assist students in researching reading materials and references to meet their academic needs. Prompt and professional responses to student inquiries via phone or email are expected. Additionally, the librarian will research and implement new information system techniques to enhance library services and improve user experience.

Supervision of library students and other staff members is also required to maintain smooth daily operations and uphold library standards.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must have prior experience working as a librarian and demonstrate proficiency in using computers and managing electronic databases. Familiarity with information management systems is essential for this role. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively are necessary to handle the diverse responsibilities of the position.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to interact positively with students and staff. A patient and friendly demeanor is important to foster a welcoming environment within the library. A degree in Library Science is mandatory for consideration.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
A Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Management is considered an advantage and will strengthen the candidate’s profile. The position offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from Rs35,000 to Rs40,000.

This role is based in Karachi and requires in-person attendance. Candidates must ensure reliable commuting or be prepared to relocate prior to employment.
