Job Summary
The HR Executive in the retail sector is a pivotal role responsible for managing daily human resource activities across multiple store locations. This position focuses on recruiting frontline staff, ensuring compliance with labor regulations, coordinating training initiatives, and promoting employee engagement. By efficiently handling HR operations, the HR Executive supports a dynamic retail environment, contributing to improved store performance and enhanced employee satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Staff Recruitment & Onboarding
Oversee the end-to-end recruitment process for store-level roles such as sales associates, cashiers, and store managers. This includes conducting walk-in interviews, organizing job fairs, and managing bulk hiring drives to fulfill staffing requirements. Ensure smooth onboarding by handling background verifications, issuing offer letters promptly, and facilitating comprehensive orientation and induction programs to integrate new employees effectively.
Store Employee Management & Engagement
Maintain regular communication with store managers and employees to evaluate workforce needs. Plan and implement employee engagement activities, including festive celebrations and recognition programs, to foster a positive work culture. Address employee grievances swiftly to resolve issues and maintain morale. Monitor key metrics such as staff morale and attrition rates, and efficiently manage exit formalities when employees leave.
Attendance, Payroll & Compliance Support
Collect and consolidate attendance and leave data from various retail outlets daily. Work closely with the payroll team to guarantee accurate and timely salary disbursements. Ensure strict compliance with statutory requirements such as ESI, PF, and the Shops and Establishments Act across all store locations. Maintain up-to-date personnel files and HRMS records for all employees.
Training & Performance Support
Collaborate with Learning & Development teams to organize training sessions focused on product knowledge, sales techniques, and soft skills enhancement. Track employee participation and maintain detailed training records. Assist store managers in conducting performance appraisals and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to support continuous employee development.
HR Reporting & Administration
Prepare detailed HR dashboards that include headcount, attrition rates, and recruitment status updates. Manage essential HR documentation such as employment contracts, warning letters, and official notices. Support internal audits and labor inspections to ensure compliance and readiness at all retail locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of HR experience, preferably within the retail or FMCG sectors.
- Sound knowledge of local labor laws and compliance standards applicable to retail operations.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to multiple retail outlets as needed.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with blue-collar and retail employees.
- Proven ability to multitask and manage HR activities across several store locations simultaneously.
- Basic proficiency in HRMS platforms and Microsoft Excel for reporting and data management.
- High adaptability, mobility in the field, and a proactive, hands-on approach to HR management.
This is a full-time, on-site role requiring the HR Executive to be actively present at retail locations to ensure seamless HR processes and contribute to a positive employee experience.
