Job Summary
Empowerment Technologies Inc. (ETI), a pioneering company with over 20 years of expertise in DIY security and baby safety products, is seeking a skilled Accounting Manager. This full-time, remote position aligns with North American time zones and requires deep accounting knowledge relevant to the UK, USA, Canada, or UAE markets. Reporting directly to the Controller and overseeing two remote accountants, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing all bookkeeping, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will blend strong ledger expertise with leadership skills to maintain accurate, audit-ready financial records while driving process improvements through documentation and automation.
Key Responsibilities
Cash & Banking: You will manage and approve daily cash postings, conduct thorough monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, and monitor bank accounts daily to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Accounts Receivable: Oversee customer cash application and deduction processing, reconcile AR sub-ledgers with customer portals, investigate discrepancies, and issue disputes or claims for unresolved items. You will also provide comprehensive monthly reports on AR issues to support decision-making.
Accounts Payable: Supervise vendor payment runs, maintain supplier master data, post vendor payments and invoices, and ensure weekly invoice downloads from online platforms are accurate and properly approved.
General Ledger Reconciliations: Take full ownership of balance sheet reconciliations for all key accounts, maintaining detailed and organized monthly records to support financial accuracy.
Financial Reporting: Deliver month-end close within five to seven days, complete pre-close GL tie-out checklists, reconcile balance sheet accounts, review P&L accounts for accuracy, and present findings clearly to the Controller.
Leadership & Collaboration: Lead, mentor, and manage the performance of two staff accountants. Coordinate review cycles with the Controller and external advisors, and provide ad-hoc financial analyses, including variance and ratio analysis, along with preliminary financial statements.
Required Qualifications
- Active CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional designation (fully completed).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Proven expertise in full-cycle bookkeeping, multi-currency reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets; familiarity with ERP systems such as Dynamics BC and cloud-based expense tools.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to develop clear Standard Operating Procedures and present financial information effectively to leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fully remote environment across multiple time zones.
- Experience working in private companies (not accounting firms), with at least 6 years in UK, US, Canada, or UAE accounting environments.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
