Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated Compliance and Sustainability Manager to lead and enhance our organization’s environmental, ethical, and social responsibility efforts. This role is central to developing and maintaining policies, conducting compliance audits, delivering employee training, and driving sustainability initiatives. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to relevant regulations while fostering continuous improvement across all sustainability practices. A proactive approach to managing compliance activities and reporting on sustainability performance is essential, along with staying up-to-date on industry trends and evolving legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive policies, procedures, and guidelines related to environmental compliance, ethical conduct, and social responsibility will be a core function of this role. You will conduct regular audits to assess compliance with applicable laws, internal policies, and sustainability standards, identifying gaps and recommending corrective actions.

You will design and deliver training programs to educate employees on relevant regulations, company policies, and best practices in sustainability and compliance. Leading sustainability initiatives is a key part of the role, including managing waste reduction programs, improving energy efficiency, and encouraging the adoption of eco-friendly technologies throughout the organization.

Preparing detailed reports on compliance status, sustainability performance, and risk assessments for senior management will be critical to support strategic decision-making. You will also be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to compliance and sustainability metrics, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Staying informed about emerging sustainability trends, innovations, and legal requirements will enable you to drive continuous improvement. Additionally, you will manage the external audit process for various certifications and standards such as SEDEX SMETA, FEM, FSLM, GRS, GMI, FSC, OEKOTEX, TQP, ISO, and Certificates of Compliance (COCs), ensuring the organization maintains its certifications and meets industry benchmarks.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have proven experience in environmental compliance, sustainability management, or a closely related field. A strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to environmental and social responsibility is essential.

You should demonstrate the ability to develop and implement effective policies and procedures that align with compliance and sustainability objectives. Experience conducting audits and managing certification processes is required.

Excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively train and engage employees at all organizational levels. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting related to compliance and sustainability performance is also expected.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to stay current with evolving sustainability trends and legal frameworks, ensuring the organization remains compliant and forward-thinking.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Familiarity with multiple external audit standards, including SEDEX SMETA, FEM, FSLM, GRS, GMI, FSC, OEKOTEX, TQP, and ISO certifications, is highly desirable. Experience in leading organizational change through sustainability initiatives will be an advantage.
