Automation Engineer

Job Summary
Sequel Technologies, a leading software company specializing in healthcare IT and medical billing services for the US market, is seeking a proficient Automation Engineer with 3 to 4 years of experience in test automation. This full-time, on-site position is based in Bahria Town Phase 7, with a preference for candidates living in Bahria, DHA, Askari 14, or nearby localities. The successful candidate will join the Quality Assurance team and play a critical role in designing and maintaining automated test scripts, improving test coverage, and integrating automation within CI/CD pipelines. This role demands strong technical skills and a deep understanding of QA best practices in an Agile development environment.

Key Responsibilities
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts using industry-standard tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright. A key part of the role involves integrating these automated tests into continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, leveraging platforms like Jenkins or GitLab CI. Collaboration with both QA and development teams is essential to identify automation opportunities and implement effective solutions that enhance overall testing efficiency.

Maintaining and improving test automation frameworks to ensure they are reusable and scalable is another critical responsibility. The engineer will execute automated test suites, analyze the results, and document or report any defects or issues encountered during testing. Ensuring comprehensive test coverage of critical business workflows is vital to uphold software quality standards. Additionally, active participation in test planning sessions and contributing to the overall QA strategy will be expected.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. They should have 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in automation testing, demonstrating proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java. Experience with test automation frameworks like Mocha, TestNG, or Jest is essential.

A strong understanding of REST APIs and practical experience using tools such as Postman or REST Assured is required. Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git, is necessary to manage code repositories effectively. Candidates should also possess solid knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies to thrive in the company’s development environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling is considered an advantage. Exposure to cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure, will be beneficial. Relevant QA certifications, such as ISTQB, are also preferred.

The position offers several benefits, including healthcare coverage encompassing both OPD and IPD, an entertainment allowance, cellular allowance, and provident fund contributions. Working hours are aligned with the US time zone, from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM, to facilitate collaboration with international teams.

This role requires candidates to be residents of Bahria Town Phase 7/8, DHA 1, Askari 14, or Humak Rawalpindi, as it is strictly an in-person position.
