This role is pivotal in supporting and advancing the vision, strategy, and leadership of Financial Crime Surveillance Operations (FCSO) within the country. The successful candidate will align with the Group’s strategic direction and growth objectives, playing a key role in implementing FCSO initiatives. This position ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and strengthens the bank’s capacity to detect and manage financial crime risks effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of the FCSO strategy by escalating relevant Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) surveillance issues, adhering to Group policies, regulatory expectations, and guidance.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of bank products across retail, commercial, private, correspondent banking, and trade segments to conduct thorough end-to-end investigations.
- Provide stakeholders with insights on current and emerging policies, practices, and trends to aid informed decision-making.
- Advise teams on regulatory requirements, laws, best practices, and internal policies related to FCC.
- Collaborate with the Country Head FCSO and Regional Head FCSO on complex investigations as required.
- Ensure timely follow-up on cases with clear and accurate documentation within the case management system.
- Share information on high-profile cases with senior FCSO leadership to develop typologies and enhance control measures.
- Promote a culture of openness, trust, and risk awareness, encouraging ethical, legal, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage workload effectively through forward planning, prioritization, and streamlined workflows.
- Take personal accountability for continuous learning and development.
- Understand and utilize technical systems related to List Management, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Client Risk Assessments, Name and Transaction Screening, AML Monitoring, and Case Management.
- Report serious regulatory or risk tolerance breaches to senior management and regulators, ensuring prompt remediation or cessation of activities.
- Identify, assess, and escalate risks with potential impact.
- Provide intelligence on client types and emerging risk typologies to internal forums.
- Ensure accuracy and quality of case data within enterprise case management systems.
- Work closely with legal counsel to obtain technical advice.
- Recommend improvements to controls and processes where appropriate.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to produce reports identifying emerging risks and supporting remediation efforts within FCSO.
