Material Selection: Analyze and choose materials based on performance, cost, and environmental factors for product design and manufacturing processes.

Testing and Analysis: Conduct tests on materials to evaluate their properties, such as strength, hardness, durability, and resistance to corrosion or temperature. Analyze test data and interpret results to recommend improvements or solutions.

Research and Development: Stay current with advancements in material science and explore new materials or technologies that can improve product performance or reduce costs. Collaborate with R&D teams to innovate and develop new materials for products.

Quality Control: Ensure that materials used in production meet required specifications and quality standards. Troubleshoot material-related issues in manufacturing processes.

Process Improvement: Work closely with manufacturing teams to identify opportunities to enhance production processes, minimize waste, and improve efficiency through material optimization.

Collaboration: Work with other engineers (e.g., mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineers) and product designers to ensure materials meet the performance needs of the end product.

Documentation: Maintain detailed records of material tests, specifications, and product designs. Ensure all data is documented accurately for compliance with industry standards.

Compliance: Ensure that all materials used in products meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
