- Participates in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for continued competence
- Responsible in making sure the assigned codes meet all federal, legal and insurance regulations so service payments are obtained in a timely fashion.
- Resubmits it and contact the provider to ensure the correct code was used, in the event a claim is denied.
- Oversees the process of retrieving patient information and obtains all missing information in patient charts
- Protects confidential medical information following HIPAA guidelines
- To communicate with clients when need arises.
- To complete the job well within the turnaround time (TAT).
- Maintain a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease processes and surgical techniques through participation in continuing education programs to effectively apply ICD- 10-CM and CPT coding guidelines to inpatient and outpatient diagnoses and procedures.
- Any other tasks assigned by supervisor.
