We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Truck Dispatcher to join our team. The dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating freight movement, assigning loads to drivers, and ensuring efficient route planning for timely deliveries.
Responsibilities:
- Find and book profitable loads for drivers using load boards and direct carrier relationships.
- Communicate with drivers to provide load details, routes, and necessary instructions.
- Monitor shipments to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
- Negotiate rates with brokers and shippers to maximize profitability.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch operations, including load details and driver schedules.
- Resolve any transportation issues that arise, such as delays or cancellations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, fuel costs, and regulations to optimize operations.
Requirements:
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with load boards (DAT, Truckstop, etc.) and dispatch software.
- Basic knowledge of trucking regulations and freight industry practices.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions.
