<div><p>Over the last few years, the use of electronic devices has increased immensely, along with their connectivity and communication. The recent trends show a huge increase in internet traffic due to the development of some high data-consuming applications like video conferencing, live streaming, online gaming, etc., and in the future, it is expected to increase exponentially because we are rapidly moving towards an artificially intelligent world with internet of things. So given the scenario, there was a dire need for development in our networks, and one significant to do that was to find an alternative to traditional electronic switching in optical networks. Here is the reason, the optical fiber can transmit data in terabytes but over the years it has been underutilized and not to its full potential because electronic switching bottlenecks its capacity as in electronic switching, first there is a delay due to optoelectronic conversions and it can only process data at a maximum of some hundreds of gigabytes speed. So, this impelled the world to move towards all-optical switched networks. </p></div>
