I graduated from the batch of 2019 of LUMS with BSc. (Hons) in Economics. I aim to start a career in the field of Economic research and then apply for a Graduate degree after gaining some experience in the field.
I personally prefer working on projects related to social issues such as women empowerment and literacy in Pakistan. I have taken courses in applied economics such as; Urban Economics, Agriculture and Food Policy, Applied Microeconomics, Issues in Economic Policy, and Poverty and Income Distribution. In my last semester I worked on a Senior Project and two course projects which both involved working with large household surveys such as PSLM and EMIS.
I have a good understanding of STATA and I have also worked with various other data handling software. I’ve always had an interest in learning new programs because I think it is a necessity for our changing times.
AL Bayan is a non-profit organisation which focuses on helping the poor by raising funds and carrying out different monthly projects. Since February we have stopped the monthly projects and are currently working on starting a welfare school for the underprivileged.
United We REACH is helping improve the quality of education provided by government schools in Pakistan. I reviewed the class scripts, books and practice books which were taught by the teachers in these schools. I managed the inventory for the material which needed to be provided to these schools according to the class scripts.
I joined when WoWoman had just moved to Pakistan and was still in its initial stages of getting recognized. I helped organise the first three events, since we were only 5 team members at that time, everyone worked in every department. I designed and wrote the monthly newsletter. I talked to delegates, built their trust in the organisation and kept them up to date with everything WoWoman. I was the sole person responsible for handling the social media presence of the organisation and for the promotion of the events.
