My key responsibilities in Import Department (reportable to Director, GM Commercial and Technical Director) include the followings:
Coordination with Production Planning Department to cater their requirements/purchase of Machinery, Spares, & other items to be imported.
Arrange Pre-costing against import quotation/Offers and take approval from Top Management.
Coordination with Banks for opening of LC’s, Advance payments and Bank Contracts.
Weekly report of import shipment and same send to management for arrangements of funds or facility.
Monitor and track shipments to provide real-time updates to relevant stakeholders.
Monitoring customs clearance of import consignments against various SRO’s Benefits allowed by the Government under concessionary SRO’s / Manufacturing Bond / EFS.Correspondence with Government Departments regarding import related issue to prevent delays in the import process.
Communicate with international suppliers to coordinate shipments, resolve issues, negotiate favorable terms, address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Negotiation with freight forwarder for FOB / Ex-Works import.
Coordinate and optimize transportation and logistics activities to meet delivery schedules.
Monitoring FOC import claims against missing items / under warranty.

Manage Vendors /Accounts Payable report. (i.e., Survey agents, Clearing Agent)
Duty taxes preparation and submitted to accounts dept. for Pay orders of DDP / FOC shipment.
Keep record for short weight claims and FOC import claims.
Dealing with Bank for Shipping Bank Guarantee’s (By Sea /By Air)
Keep record of import documents (Letter credit, Advance Payment, Contracts, CAD etc.)
Daily report to manager regarding Tracking of shipment and clearance of import shipments. (By Sea /By Air).
Purchase Order issuance against import order.
Prepare Sales tax register for Sales Tax Return.
