MHAO is a group of companies established in UAE since 1946 spread over multiple sectors including Office Automation, Industrial Kitchen, Home Appliances, Interior Fittings, Car Lease and Rental, Transportation and Printing Services.
I was invited to join them on 3 months' temporary gig as a consultant/advisor to provide the Group Management insights and in-depth evaluation of their business processes in multiple group subsidiaries against the criteria of 3Es as well as compliance with industry and company standards.
I was also involved in two board meetings on then ongoing demerger between two of their companies and proper handing over of Financial records to the caretaker team of experts from the Head Office.
The Monal Group was established by an entrepreneur back in the 2000s. The young businessman turned his small restaurant into a group of companies in a matter of just over a decade. Now, The Monal Group boasts of 4 Large Restaurants, 2 Theme Parks, and a Caterer and Event Manager company around Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.
I was offered a chance to join this business in their Finance department at times when new ERP was being designed. By the virtue of my hard work and strong management and learning abilities, I excelled in the new ERP design quickly and was promoted to manage the Finance function of the entire group. Working under the supervision of GM Finance and Audit, I contributed to the organization with innovative ideas in ERP development and coached the finance and accounts teams at all projects on the new system as well as meeting the financial reporting requirements of the board every month.
Major achievements include; successful closing of monthly financial records of all group companies and preparation of financial information accordingly, preparation of management reports for strategic decision making, involvement in monthly board meetings, successful implementation of new ERP at all projects working as a bridge between the accounts team and ERP developers, rectification of accounting policies, enforcing IFRS compliance where missing and strengthening control over operational processes and day to day activities.
COMEX is a small courier company comprising just 10 staff members, owned by a private family from Muscat and operating mainly locally with some small international operations on the back of business partnerships.
I was introduced to the company as Senior Accountant and Admin where my main duties were to manage overall business activities and provide the CEO with accounting and financial information on as needed basis. I was also responsible for keeping a check on business funds as well as costing of providing services and performing different tasks.
Modular Concepts Electro-Mechanical is a subsidiary of ModCon General FZ LLC, a privately owned SME operating in Healthcare industry in the UAE. The company procures, assembles and then provides modular equipment to large scale hospitals in the regions of UAE and India.
I was hired first as the Treasury Accountant by the group, soon rotated to the Accounts department and finally to the Audit function. During the 6 months of my work, I served on multiple assignments as scheduled by the Finance Manager and the COO.
Working in the treasury, I streamlined the petty cash reporting and contributed to the overall improvement of the function, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards which were being poorly followed by the staff that time. Serving under accounts, I managed data of 3 companies and ensured completeness and accuracy using PeachTree Quantum software. The majority of my time was spent on Audit function, as the MD rotated me to the position acknowledging my attention to detail and in-depth understanding of standards.
