Job Purpose:

The Accounts Manager is responsible for managing the company's accounting functions, including maintaining financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing budgets, and preparing financial reports. This role also involves working closely with senior management to provide financial insights for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting:

    • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data to senior management.
    • Provide financial analysis and reports to support business decisions.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
    • Monitor budget performance and analyze variances to ensure budget adherence.
    • Provide recommendations based on financial performance trends.
  3. Accounts Payable/Receivable:

    • Manage and oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes.
    • Ensure timely payments and collections.
    • Handle disputes and discrepancies related to payments and invoicing.
  4. Tax and Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax laws, and government regulations (including SST, corporate tax, etc.).
    • Oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns and other statutory filings.
    • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.
  5. Cash Flow Management:

    • Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
    • Implement cash management strategies to optimize working capital.
  6. Internal Controls:

    • Establish and maintain effective internal control systems.
    • Ensure proper accounting procedures and practices are followed.
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  7. Team Management:

    • Lead and manage a team of accountants and finance professionals.
    • Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations for the team.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  8. Financial Systems Management:

    • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
    • Ensure the integrity and security of financial data.
  9. Business Partnering:

    • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and sales, to provide financial support.
    • Participate in strategic planning and provide financial insights to drive business growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional accounting qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) are preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial role.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, ERPNext, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.

Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of local tax laws, accounting standards (e.g., MFRS), and regulatory compliance in Malaysia.

Leadership Skills:

  • Proven experience managing teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Analytical Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.

Language:

  • Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required; knowledge of other languages (e.g., Mandarin) is a plus.
