Unilever is looking for a Regulatory Affairs Lead for Foods to join their R&D team based at the Karachi Head Office, supporting operations in Pakistan and Bangladesh. This full-time position reports to the PTAB Foods Regulatory Affairs Manager and plays a vital role in ensuring that all food products comply with local regulations while fostering innovation within the Foods portfolio. The role involves providing regulatory expertise throughout product development, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and representing Unilever in local food trade associations to help shape regulatory priorities. Additionally, the position requires close coordination with third-party regulatory providers in Bangladesh to maintain compliance and address regulatory challenges effectively.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance of all food products with relevant regulations and standards in Pakistan and Bangladesh, including packaging, recipes, ingredients, labeling, and technical claims.
- Provide regulatory guidance during the innovation process by conducting thorough assessments and formulation reviews, utilizing digital tools for major projects.
- Work collaboratively with the PTAB RA Foods team to improve compliance and innovation efficiency at the business unit level.
- Prepare and submit necessary regulatory documentation to authorities as required.
- Monitor and interpret changes in food regulations, keeping stakeholders informed about potential impacts.
- Support local teams in engaging with regulatory authorities and industry associations to stay updated on regulatory developments and resolve issues.
- Represent Unilever in food trade associations, with support from the PTAB RA Foods Manager, to influence key regulatory priorities.
- Deliver training and provide ongoing support to internal teams regarding regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with New Product Development (NPD), Legal, External Affairs, and other relevant functions to ensure consistent regulatory alignment.

Required Qualifications

- A relevant degree from an accredited university with a strong foundation in food regulatory affairs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food regulations and standards specific to Pakistan.
- Proven experience in regulatory affairs within the food industry, including the ability to interpret complex regulations.
- Excellent technical communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms relevant to regulatory assessments.
