General Position Summary

The Supply Chain Officer is responsible for managing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations within the food distribution. This includes procurement, planning, inventory management, logistics, and distribution. The officer will ensure that products are sourced, cooked and delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner while maintaining high-quality standards.

Essential Job Functions

 Procurement and Supplier Management:

  • Source and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve the best possible deals.
  • Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong relationships.

Planning:

  • Develop and implement schedules based on demand forecasts.
  • Coordinate with distribution teams to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
  •  Adjust plans as necessary to address any issues or changes in demand.
  • Develop Framework Agreements.

Inventory Management:

  •  Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock without overstocking.
  • Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.

Logistics and Distribution:

  • Oversee the transportation of goods from suppliers to warehouse facilities and from warehouses to food processing facilities and Distribution points.
  • Optimize logistics routes and methods to reduce costs and delivery times.
  •  Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for transportation and storage.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure that all products meet food safety and quality standards.
  • Work with quality assurance teams to address any issues and implement corrective actions.
  •  Maintain documentation and records related to quality control processes.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  •  Analyse supply chain data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and potential risks.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to Senior Logistics Manager on supply chain performance.
  • Use data to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives

.Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage supply chain budgets.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to reduce expenses.
  • Monitor and control supply chain costs to ensure profitability.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with various departments, including procurement, logistics and finance, to align supply chain activities with overall business goals.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  •  Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise within the supply chain.

Direct Reporting to: Field Coordinator

Technical Reporting to: Country Logistics Coordinator
