Operating in over 70 cities across 10 countries, Careem is looking for a Senior Enterprise Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer to join an agile team. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise IAM services including Okta, SailPoint, Thycotic, and CyberArk. The position involves onboarding applications, driving innovation in a fast-paced, multi-geographic environment, and collaborating closely with Infrastructure, IT, Compliance, and Legal teams to build secure and scalable IAM systems. Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, maintain, and modernize Careem’s enterprise IAM infrastructure to support growth while ensuring security, compliance, and broad adoption. Lead technical decision-making and encourage the adoption of IAM solutions across various teams and departments. Collaborate effectively with stakeholders including Infrastructure, IT, Compliance, and Legal to develop secure IAM systems that meet business needs. Address business and user experience challenges by leveraging strategic technology solutions. Drive identity architecture and strategic planning aligned with Careem’s evolving growth and maturity. Mentor junior engineers to enhance their technical skills and contribute to team development. Manage the onboarding of new and existing applications into IAM systems and oversee Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions to safeguard critical assets.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, or a related discipline. At least six years of hands-on experience working with enterprise or corporate Identity and Access Management systems. Strong expertise in authentication protocols and standards such as SSO, OAuth2, SAML, and OpenID Connect. Proven experience designing and implementing IAM solutions using vendor platforms like Okta and SailPoint. Demonstrated ability to implement IAM controls compliant with regulatory frameworks such as SOx and GDPR. Practical experience with cloud IAM systems, including AWS Directory Services and related identity management tools. Proficiency in automation and scripting using Python, Git, CI/CD pipelines, or similar technologies. Excellent communication skills paired with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset. Experience managing Privileged Access Management (PAM) systems. Ability to shape and execute the future vision and roadmap for Identity, Authentication, and Authorization within a fast-growing organization. Prior experience working in a hyper-growth e-commerce or technology environment is highly desirable.
