The Stock Keeper is an essential member of the Operating Theatre team, responsible for managing surgical consumables, implants, instruments, and related supplies. This role ensures that all items are accurately stocked, monitored, and readily available to support uninterrupted surgical procedures. By maintaining proper inventory levels and controlling costs, the Stock Keeper contributes to the overall efficiency and compliance of surgical operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of stock usage, receipts, and returns, including tracking expiry dates and serial numbers to ensure traceability.
- Conduct routine cycle counts and perform comprehensive stock audits on a quarterly or annual basis. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or variances identified during these audits.
- Monitor inventory to identify dead stock and minimize expired items, thereby optimizing stock levels and reducing unnecessary costs.
- Collaborate with surgical and procurement teams to ensure timely replenishment of supplies and adherence to inventory protocols.
- Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare standards and internal policies related to stock management within the Operating Theatre.
Required Qualifications:
- Between 1 to 3 years of experience working in healthcare environments, preferably with exposure to managing surgical or Operating Theatre stock.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate stock records and support efficient inventory control.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to meet operational demands and deadlines.
- Basic understanding of inventory management principles and familiarity with stock control software or systems is advantageous.
