We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to lead our back-office operations. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing a team of accountants and bookkeepers, ensuring high-quality service delivery across core areas including financial reporting, compliance, tax preparation, and advisory support. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of Canadian accounting and tax regulations, strong leadership skills, and a proactive, solutions-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, working papers, and corporate and personal tax returns (T1, T2, T4, T5).
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of accounting and advisory services for a diverse client base.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control in accordance with firm policies and applicable accounting standards (ASPE, IFRS, etc.).
  • Collaborate with partners and other senior team members to streamline workflows and improve back-office efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and technology tools to enhance team productivity.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for complex client matters, including tax planning, compliance issues, and strategic advisory.
  • Ensure deadlines and compliance obligations are met consistently and efficiently.
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.

Qualifications 

  • CPA designation in good standing (CPA Canada).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in public accounting, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Extensive experience in Canadian tax (corporate and personal), financial reporting, and advisory services.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, ASPE, IFRS and CRA compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax software (e.g., CaseWare, TaxPrep/Profile/TaxCycle, QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing remote or hybrid teams is an asset.
